Saturday the 30th of November saw the club return to Barwood Park in Erskine for the Scottish Athletics West District Cross Country Championships, a venue we visited back in February for the last race of the 23/24 West League season.
The Under 13 girls were first in action, they were led home by Zoe Baillie in 15th place with a time of 9.15, followed by Nina Clark in 22nd and Millie Ashelby in 23rd, both with a time of 9.26. Elspeth Thorpe was next in 55th with a time of 10.25, Ellie Taylor 59th in 10.33 and then Rebecca Pew in 63rd with a time of 10.40.
The Under 13 boys were up next with a great run from Owen Palmer completing the 3.2k course in 16th place with a time of 8.42. Next to finish was Harris Rosling in 34th in 9.40 and then Calum McCormick in 9.42
The Under 15 girls race was next with only Skye Christie representing us in this race, she finished in 18th place with a time of 14.04
Next into action was the Under 15 boys, again with only 1 runner representing the club. Brian Heslop finished the 4.1km course in 13th place in a time of 12.15
Ben Baillie and Alan Leitch were up next in the Under 17 Mens race with Ben completing the 5.5km course in 17th place with a time of 16.39, followed by Alan in 29th place with a time of 18.40. The under 17 Women were next with 4 runners for the club in this race. They were led home by Matilda Frew in an excellent 4th place with a time of 17.57, she was followed home by Eva Morrison in 13th place with a time of 20.00. Next to finish was Katie Fielding in 25th with a time of 23.16, followed by Kayleigh pew in 27th in 23.50
Next into Action was the Under 20 Men with Sam Hosie, Aaron Thomson and Jonathan Hunter representing us. Sam was first home in 10th place with a time of 19.25, followed by Aaron in 14th in 19.53 and then Jonathan in 27th with a time of 21.35.
The Under 20 Women followed shortly after on the 6.3km course with Aimee Anderson finishing in 10th place in 24.20 and Amy Andrew finishing 11th with a time of 24.32
The penultimate race of the day was the Senior/Masters Womens race. Kelly Baillie was first home for the club in 45th overall, 4th in the W45 category with a time of 30.04. Vivien Thorpe was next to finish in 74th overall, 8th in the W45 category with a time of 32.30 with Laura Hervas next to finish the 7.5km course in 126th overall, 16th in the W45 category with a time of 39.47.
The final race of the day saw the Senior and Masters Men in action with the club well represented with 10 members running in a field of 239 starting.
First to finish was John Fergusson, 19th overall, 16th in the Seniors category. He was followed by Patrick Mochan, 34th overall, 28th in the Seniors category
Jack Kirwan, 42nd overall, 35th in the Seniors Category
Euan Rose, 61st overall, 45th in the Seniors category
David Gorman 113th overall, 65th in the Seniors category
Jamie Clements 116th overall, 20th in the M35 category
Keith Charters 132nd overall, 6th in the M55 category
Andrew Chapman 150th overall, 10th in the M50 category
Dan Walsh 159th overall, 78th in the Seniors category
Bringing the club home for the day was Arthur Mulholland in 177th overall, 3rd in the M60 category.
Well done to all who competed, next Cross Country outing for the club will be the first West League race of the season at the Linn Park in Glasgow on the 14th of December.
